Like most cities in Sweden, the university town of Lund in Skåne also has many parks and greenery. The largest park is the City Park or Stadsparken in Swedish. Stadsparken came into existence in 1911 and celebrated its 100th anniversary a few years ago. It is one of the favorite places for Lundabor (residents of Lund) to have a picnic. There is also no shortage of sports options in this park. There are running routes, fields for various ball sports and even for boules. There is even a real climbing track and a skate park.
Playground
What I especially remembered about Stadsparken in Lund is the gigantic playground. It had only been opened when I was there in 2016 and it didn’t resemble to any public playground I had seen before. This really is a fantastic place for children to let off steam! Don’t you want to play in such a castle?
Walpurgis Night in City Park Lund
On April 30, Stadsparken is the place to be for those who want to celebrate Walpurgis Night. About 15,000 people gather in the park for a spontaneous party. (Due to corona, the park will be exceptionally closed on this day in 2020 and 2021.)
Practical information
The city park is accessible free of charge. There are public toilets in the park.
Are you bringing your dog? Then know that it is mandatory to keep the dog on a lead.
How do you get to City Park in Lund?
The park is located in the southwest of the city. Stadsparken is about 600 meters from Lund C station.
