Fancy dreaming about the cozy idea of your own little place in Stockholm? Pretend you’re a local and book Aparthotel BooBoo Living on Lidingö, a charming island a stone’s throw from the Swedish capital. Here you will find affordable studios and apartments with all the comforts of home.
When I worked in Stockholm for ten days in April, I consciously chose BooBoo Living. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet with all facilities within reach and very affordable. The ferry took me along the islands to the center in an hour. Or go the fast way: the metro takes you to the city center in just 15 minutes.
My cozy studio on Lidingö immediately felt like coming home: a good bed, a fully equipped kitchen and even a tvättstuga (laundry room) with washing machine and dryer. The perfect mix of comfort and functionality, exactly what I was looking for! In fact, it was so good that a few months later I booked with BooBoo Living again when I was spending Christmas in Stockholm with my family. This time we chose 2 apartments, each with 2 bedrooms.
Lidingö: an oasis of peace near the city
Lidingö is a true paradise for those who love nature and tranquility. I wish I lived there. Walk or cycle along the idyllic banks, go swimming in one of the many lakes or enjoy a fika in one of the cozy cafes. Into culture? Visit Millesgården with its fascinating art collection or choose, after a short metro ride into the city, for the endless range of culture in Stockholm.
At Lidingö I enjoyed a refreshing dip in the Kottlasjön lake and I went for a walk in the Långängen-Elfvik Nature Reserve and Kappsta Nature Reserve . Thanks to the tips from a dear colleague who is lucky enough to live on this island.
An unforgettable experience for the whole family
BooBoo Living is also a perfect choice with children. The apartments are spacious and child-friendly, and at Lidingö there are plenty of fun activities for the little ones, like playgrounds (lekpark), the natural forests or the petting zoo.
Unfortunately, I cannot share photos of the 2 apartments where I stayed with my family (5 adults and 3 children). Apparently we only have pictures where we’re all in our Christmas pajamas. We had such a good time that I didn’t think to take pictures of the apartment. Oops! But when I ask my family what they thought of the accommodation, they are all enthusiastic: spacious living room, beautiful view, the washing machine and that the sound insulation was really great (believe me, with 3 children between 3 and 8, this is necessary) are their findings.
BooBoo Living: modern comfort with a touch of Scandinavian charm
BooBoo Living offers a range of comfortable apartments, from cozy studios to spacious family apartments with two bedrooms. All units are tastefully decorated with an eye for detail and equipped with all modern conveniences. The kitchen is perfectly equipped to cook your favorite dishes. The only thing I maybe missed was a dishwasher.
It is typically Swedish that in apartment buildings (also at BooBoo Living) you have a tvättstuga (a shared laundry room) with professional machines. In addition to two washing machines and a dryer, there was also a torkskåp, a special dryer that you often see in ski resorts to quickly dry your wet ski clothing or other items that are not allowed in a regular dryer. You reserve your laundry time by writing your name on the sheet in the hallway. Tip: also book time in the tvättstuga the evening before your departure, so you can go home with a suitcase full of clean clothes instead of having to do the laundry at home. You can thank me later!
Practical info aparthotel BooBoo Living
Check-in and check-out went very smoothly every time. Check-in is done via a code that will be sent to you shortly before arrival. There is a computer in the lounge where you can check in and activate your key card yourself. You can also check in online in advance, which makes everything even smoother. And if you want to reach someone, you can go to a special platform. The hosts also respond fairly quickly to emails.
There is no daily cleaning service, but each floor has a fixed day a week for cleaning in the apartments that have been rented for a longer period of time. And you can also find cleaning supplies downstairs if you want to clean more often. Of course, they also clean in between guests (which is rather exceptional: in Sweden you often have to clean your holiday home yourself upon departure). You bring your own waste to the garage and it is also expected that you do all the dishes yourself.
